Mike Little is a member of the Electric City Shag Club in Anderson,
South Carolina. He is also a member of the Association of Beach & Shag Club
DJ’s and the National Association of Rhythm & Blues Deejays. He hosted
for 3-1/2 years The Saturday Morning Beach Party on WANS, 1280 AM in Anderson, which was rated by Arbitron as the highest
rated AM show listened to and number three overall for that time slot. In 2004,
he was awarded the Rufus Oates Award by the National Association of Rhythm & Blues Dee Jays for his writing contributions. He now serves on the Board of Directors of the NARBDJ.

It is that time of the year when we break out the dusty CD's with the seasonal songs. If you are like me, there is still a lot of seasonal CD's and vinyl we have yet to
put on the laptop. We intersperse these seasonal songs into our play list for
just a few short weeks. However, we don't have to just dwell just the past. There is plenty of new Christmas music to choose from that has just been released
or was released late last year.
It has been
a number of years since RubyJude Records released Carolina Christmas. In 2004, Judy Collins released this popular seasonal compilation, and it has been out of print for some
time. Fear not! This year, SisBro
Records has re-released the 2012 version of Carolina Christmas, and the revised
album is now available for taking at Judy's House of Oldies in the Ocean Drive section of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The revised album features the new song from Lesa Hudson, Santa Claus Can You
Teach Me How To Shag. Other songs included in the compilation come from
the late Billy Scott with The Christmas Song, Craig Woolard with Only One Night Of The Year, Gary Brown
with Winter Wonderland and Mark Roberts with Til The Season Comes Round Again. You will also find tunes on the album from Terry Batson, Batson & Chase, D.K. Davis, Jay Spell, Casey
York and Michelle Becker. And there is more.

Blue Christmas by Lady Antebellum. The
songs comes from the trio's new Christmas album, On This Winter's Night. We
all are familiar with Lady Antebellum and their huge 2011-12 hit, Need You Now. The
group was formed in 2006 and consists of Charles Kelly, brother of singer/songwriter Josh Kelley, Hillary Scott, daughter
of Grammy winning Country artist Linda Davis, and Dave Haywood.
Boogie
Woogie Christmas by The Chicago Kingsnakes. The song comes from the Windy
City group's late 2011 release, Holiday Boogie.
The Chicago Kingsnakes has been playing Blues since 1983.
Christmas In The Sugaa Shack by The Klass
Band Brotherhood. The single is the holiday version of this North Augusta, South
Carolina group's smash hit, Sugaa Shack. The Soul band was previously
known as Le Klass.
I Fell In Love On The Holidays by Carl Marshall. This song is part of Carl's new release on CDS Records' Christmas Southern Soul Style. A native of New Orleans, he is now based out of Houston, Texas.
I Got The Christmas Blues by The Leonard Brothers. This
holiday single comes from one of Orlando, Florida's top party bands. The group
is fronted by twin brothers Steven and Keven Leonard, who are natives of Nashville, Tennessee.
I Want Your Love For Christmas by The John Lindberg Trio. The Swedish musical trio is fronted, of course, by vocalist and guitarist John Lindberg. This song is part of the group's new album, Rock This Christmas.
Merry Christmas,
a single by Donnell Sullivan. Donnell was born in Melbourne, Florida and
raised in the small town, St. Francisville, Louisiana. Born into a musical family,
he followed in his father's footsteps who was a guitarist and singer in a band.
Tis The Season To Be Lovin' You by Gary U.S. Bonds. This number is part of the singer's new release, Christmas Is On!. Born Gary Anderson in Jacksonville, Florida, he was given his stage name “US Bonds”, in hopes
that his 1961 release, New Orleans, would receive additional airplay from disc jockeys thinking that it was a public service
announcement. Whichever the case, the song was a hit and followed by another,
Quarter To Three. He re-emerged in 1981 with another hit, This Little
Girl. The song was penned by Bruce Springsteen, and Springsteen's E-Street Band backed Bonds on the recording. Fast forward
almost twenty years and you now hear Gary U.S. Bond's latest, Pour Me. The
song was part of KHP Music's award winning compilation, Lil House Big Party.
The Very Best Time Of The Year by Blake Shelton with Trypta-Phunk. The song is part of the Country Music Awards' 2012 Entertainer of the Year's new holiday
album, Cheers, It's Christmas. Blake is backed on the song by
the instrumental rock/funk trio Trypta-Phunk trio that is based out of Nashville.
Santa Claus Is Back In Town by Sammy Kershaw. The
song is a part of his new release, A Sammy Klaus Christmas. Born
in Kaplan, Louisiana, Sammy blends Honky Tonk, Southern Rock and a hint of Cajun to form his own style of Country pop. He is best known in our arena for his 1992 hit, Me And Maxine.
Santa
Wants Some Lovin' by David Gogo. This one comes from his new holiday release,
Christmas With The Blues. Known as Canada's hardest working
Blues/Rock guitarist, David has scored 3 Juno nominations. The Juno Awards is Canada's equivalent to the United States' Grammy Awards.
Spending Christmas With You by The Strange Tones. This
one comes from the group's late 2011 release, Crime-A-Billy Christmas.
The album title is a take-off from the Portland, Oregon band's 2005 release, Crime-A-Billy. In 2011, The Strange Tones scored with Best Contemporary Act of the Muddy Awards. They were inducted into the Muddy Hall of Fame in 2007 and have won the Blues Cascade Award four years
running. Based in the Northwest, the Cascade Blues Association established the
Muddy Awards in honor of Blues music's most influential forces, McKinley Morganfield, better known as Muddy Waters.
There are more albums and songs released this season, but these, I believe, are the best of the
pack.
